As reading skills increase, choose books that capture your child’s interest.

Look for the following characteristics:
·    enlarged type style
·    short chapters
·    illustrations that provide clues to unfamiliar words
·    repetition of phrases and new words
·    enough “white space” on a page so that children can track words with their fingers
